Suntreat Packing & Shipping Co. is a state-of-the-art packing house located in Lindsay, California, in the heart of the Great Central Valley. Although citrus is grown around the world, California has arguably the best growing conditions combining fertile soil, warm summers and cool winters to produce both the sweetest tasting and best looking citrus available.
Suntreat has been a leader in the industry in packing California's best citrus since 1958. In that time, we've consistently demonstrated our commitment to excellence and built a hard-earned reputation for top-quality work and products at competitive prices.
Today, Suntreat packs, ships, and markets Navels, Valencias, Summer Navels (Australian late navel varieties), and Lemons, as well as specialty citrus varieties such as Mandarins, Cara Caras, Minneolas, Melogolds, Blood Oranges, Pummelos, and Oroblanco grapefruit hybrid.
Over the years, Suntreat has developed and maintained valuable business relationships with California's best citrus growers, whose groves are strategically located from southern Kern County to Fresno County in the north. These relationships provide the best leverage for marketing of the sweetest, best quality fruit year round. Our growers have effectively eliminated weather-related harvest problems by placing a selection of groves in a wide range of locations. This assures that quality fruit is available through Suntreat for the majority of the year.
Accurate, Trackable Data
We take justifiable pride in our thorough, accurate pack-out reports. As fruit is received at the packing house, a bar code on each bin of fruit is scanned into the computer system. This allows the fruit to be tracked precisely through the packing process until a grower code is printed on each packed carton. This system traces back to the specific grove, so that upon arrival at the buyer’s location, any issues can be directed specifically to the exact location the fruit came from. This data is crucial to growers, allowing them to adjust their crops to maximize profits.
Automated electronic grading machines have also been installed in each of the packing plants, which allow more consistency in the grading process. As a result, buyers have offered high praise for our consistently excellent products.
These new systems have been tied together with a new computer operating system, giving faster access to pack results and an improved reporting format that enables better harvest, pack, and market decisions.
